We also have the huge plus of being able to get to the gulf or ocean beaches. They’re not too far and for a days outing are certainly a worthwhile adventure. Right behind the public library on Lakeview drive, and just down from the downtonw circle, with no-charge parking is  the City Pier Beach.City Pier Beach sign in downtown Sebring FLIt’s a lovely location to visit a beach being just down the road a bit from Sebring dowtown.It does appear as though the adjoining pavilions with benches and tables are a bit uncared for, and the last two times we were at this beach there were folks visiting in the covered areas that appeared not to have a home elsewhere.The sand is lovely, there’s a fishing pier as well, and the water is quite shallow and fairly warm. If coming from downtown it means a drive right around Lake Jackson, a nice drive in its own right.Veterans Beach is on the western side of Lake Jackson in Sebring FloridaVeteran’s too has pavilions with benches, decent parking, has public W.C.’s at least during park opening hours, and offers a launch facility for the boating / fishing crowd right beside it.Pavilions with tables and benches at Veterans Beach Sebring FloridaVeterans Beach is a bit smaller than the other Lake Jackson beach. Veterans has lovely sand, nice shallow water for wading in, and also had quite warm water the day we were there.Sand and water at Veterans Beach Sebring FloridaPerhaps not ideal for long distance swimming, the public beaches of Lake Jackson offer the visitor respite from the heat, and a chance for kids to splash and play in water very close to downtown Sebring.The Coastal beaches – getting there from SebringWe can zip east to the Atlantic ocean beaches, or head west to the Gulf of Mexico coast beaches, whatever is preferred. We like both for different reasons.Both Florida coasts have numberous beaches, and for many the choice may simply be which one can you get to fastest?In better (pre-Covid) times, since it’s almost always the better part of 2+ hours to get to either coast from where we are in Sebring, we would certainly find a hotel on the coast near the beach, and stay one night at least. That way we could get to the beach before lunch, and stay until the wee hours if we’d like, take in a nice meal on a warm semi-tropial evening, and then back to the beach in the a.m.Then, there wouldn’t be the multiple-hour drive to and from on the same day.
