Florida Georgia Line Florida Georgia LineThe duo in 2013Background informationAlso known asFGLOriginNashville, Tennessee, U.S.[1]Genres Country[2][3] country pop[4] country rock[5] bro-country[2] Years active2010–2022Labels Big Loud Mountain Big Machine Republic Nashville Past members Tyler Hubbard Brian Kelley Websitefloridageorgialine.com Florida Georgia Line was an American country music duo founded in 2010 by Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley, both of whom are vocalists and songwriters. Their 2012 debut single “Cruise” broke two major sales records: it was downloaded over seven million times, making it the first country song ever to receive the Diamond certification, and it became the best-selling digital country song, with 24 weeks at number one, until it was surpassed in July 2017 by Sam Hunt’s “Body Like a Back Road”.[6] “Cruise” helped to pioneer a style of country music known as “bro-country”, which incorporates production elements from rock and hip-hop music, and tends to cover subject matter such as partying, drinking, driving trucks and sexual attraction.[2] Much of their subsequent music has been tagged with the “bro-country” label as well.[7] Florida Georgia Line was formed in 2010 in Nashville, Tennessee,[1] and began as a cover band. In December 2011, they signed to the Big Loud Mountain label.[8] Their second EP, It’z Just What We Do, was released in 2012 and charted on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart. Several months later they signed with Republic Nashville, part of the Big Machine Label Group.[9] They released their second album, Anything Goes on October 14, 2014. Their third album, Dig Your Roots, was released on August 26, 2016, and the fourth Can’t Say I Ain’t Country on February 15, 2019. Their fifth album, Life Rolls On, was released on February 12, 2021. Early history[edit] Both members of Florida Georgia Line first gained interest in music through church worship services. Brian Kelley, from Ormond Beach, Florida, was a star pitcher on his high school baseball team, leading to a scholarship at Florida State University; he later transferred to Belmont University after it became clear to him he would not succeed in the sport.[10] He began learning to play guitar then began writing music inspired by Christian rock group Casting Crowns.[11] Tyler Hubbard, a native of Monroe, Georgia, was a church worship leader who formed a hip hop group, Ingenious Circuit, in his teens. The two had a myriad of musical interests growing up: “Me and my friends drove trucks, listened to Garth Brooks, Alabama, Lil Wayne and Eminem,” said Kelley.[11] The duo met at Belmont University in 2008 through a campus worship group, and following graduation, decided to give themselves two years to succeed as a country duo. They moved in together and began several odd jobs to pay bills, while playing clubs on the weekends.[10][12] While independent, they recorded and digitally distributed their first EP, Anything Like Me (2010).[10] They were discovered by Nickelback producer Joey Moi at a county fair, and the three began entering the studio together.[11] Unlike typical country music sessions, the group spent days polishing songs, which were collected on the duo’s second EP, It’z Just What We Do…

LISTEN: Tyler Hubbard Relishes the Chance to Tell His Story

LISTEN: Tyler Hubbard Relishes the Chance to Tell His Story as a Solo ArtistTyler Hubbard tells a funny story about “5 Foot 9,” his debut single as a solo artist after a dozen years with Florida Georgia Line. Jaren Johnston of the Cadillac Three and Chase McGill helped him pen the rolling, acoustic love story. For his part, Hubbard had his wife Hayley on his mind.”I actually missed it,” he tells Taste of Country Nights during a recent visit. “I went home that night after writing that song and asked her, ‘Babe, how tall are you again exactly?’ She was like, ‘Oh, I’m 5′ 10”.’ I was like, ‘Oh boy. Here’s a song I wrote today honey and part of it’s about you. I might have missed it by an inch.'”The song — already a Top 40 radio hit — is first from a large batch of songs already written and recorded. Hubbard, who’s signed with EMI Nashville, said he has 17 more he hopes to share with fans soon.  Each dives further into his life than he was ever able to do while with Brian Kelley and FGL. That’s no shade — in fact, those looking to uncover animosity during a chat with the Georgia half of Florida Georgia Line will come away still hungry. He does mention BK during this interview. He talks about him a lot, actually, beginning with a question about why he wanted to cut a solo album in the first place. He also approaches his influence on today’s country music and explores what a Tyler Hubbard solo tour might look like in comparison to FGL’s shows.Listen to the full Taste of Country Nights, On Demand interview with Hubbard here, or read an edited transcript below.Taste of Country: How long have you known you wanted to record a solo album? Tyler Hubbard: It’s really only been about eight months or so, but it felt good. I just sort of decided I had all these songs and a lot of them even felt like they were a part of my story. I was even inspired by BK doing the solo thing. I was like, “I understand why this is important and valuable to tell our individual story.”Do you think that you could have made it as a solo artist 12 years ago?I personally think there’s something special that BK and I had, and we did. There was a cool connection and an innocence and a hunger and a drive that got us where we were at. The fans and radio were always so good to us, so no, I don’t think I could have done it by myself by any means. When you listen to country radio today, where do you hear your influence? I think there’s little bits and pieces kind of all over the radio, which is really cool. To be in this format for 10 years and to feel the love and feel the acceptance that we’ve had, that I’ve had, it feels so good, man. Some of these newer artists coming up, (I think) “That reminds me of 2013 or 2014 or this song or that song.” It’s an honor. It’s really cool. You were one of the first people to hit up Kane Brown when he started to break. More recently it was Jelly Roll. What is it that you see in new artists that others may miss? I think just authenticity. I think that’s something that you can’t teach and something that’s really special, and guys like Jelly Roll — there’s nobody like him and he’s not trying to be like anybody else. He’s not trying to sound like anybody else. He’s just being him and doing his thing and he’s standing out for it and it’s really cool. I respect that.Florida Georgia Line was a big arena act. What can we expect from Tyler Hubbard’s solo show? I haven’t dove into fully thinking it out, but it’s still going to be pretty high energy. All of this music is…

Florida Georgia Line's Tyler Hubbard, Brian Kelley's Drama …

Is Florida Georgia Line Breaking Up? Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley’s Drama Through the Years A breakup with the makings of a country song? Florida Georgia Line bandmates Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley have achieved major success in country music, but behind the scenes, it wasn’t always peachy between them. Hubbard and Kelley founded their duo in 2010 and broke records with their debut single, “Cruise” in 2012. After releasing four studio albums from 2012 to 2019, they made headlines in 2020 when Tyler and his wife, Hayley Hubbard, unfollowed his bandmate. Fans were quick to assume that political differences put a wedge between them as Tyler and Hayley were vocal supporters of Kamala Harris and Brian, who is married to Brittney Kelley, slammed Joe Biden supporters. The two men addressed the social media drama in a joint interview on SiriusXM’s Exit 209. “I unfollowed BK for a few days while we were through this political, you know, in the middle of this election and everything going on,” Tyler told Storme Warren. “And, and I even called him and told him, I said, ‘Hey buddy, I love you. And I love you a lot more in real life than on your stories right now. So I’m just going to, so that’s why I’m unfollowing you. Nothing personal. I still love you. You’re still my brother.’ I just didn’t want to see it every time I opened Instagram. And so it wasn’t a big deal.” Tyler added that the twosome had butt heads before. “We’ve went to therapy, we’ve sat with each other and wanting to kill each other at times,” he said. “But by the end of it, we were hugging it out. You know what I mean? Because we’re brothers and that’s what brothers do.” While they went on to release their fifth studio album, Life Rolls On, in 2021, the musicians hinted at a hiatus in 2022, launching solo careers. “We’re sort of using these last 12 shows,” Tyler told People in February. “As a time to celebrate FGL, celebrate the fans, celebrate each other, and then support each other on the next chapter of our musical and creative journey, which is gonna be individually for a while. So we’re excited.” Brian clarified at the time that they are “not going their separate ways” but rather taking a “break.” However, months later, he hinted that there were no plans for the twosome to work together after wrapping their summer 2022 tour. “We’ve got, I think at this point, 10 or 11 more shows this year. We’re taking a break after that, so if you want to see us, this is the year to do it,” Brian said during a May 2022 radio interview. “I don’t know after that what the plan is. It’s not clear to me. At the end of the day, we’re brothers, so we’ll always have each other‘s back and support, and that’s what it should be.” Scroll through for a timeline of their ups and downs:
